World Nursery Rhyme Week 2023

We will be celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week in class again this year from Monday 13th – Friday 17th November. We are so excited!

Founded by Music Bugs and launched in 2013, World Nursery Rhyme Week promotes the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood development and education.

Over 5 million children from 113 countries have taken part since 2013. The initiative is open to parents, Early Years practitioners and anybody who works with children under the age of 7.

Each year, we choose 5 rhymes and encourage children to take part in our ‘Rhyme a Day’ challenge by singing the nursery rhymes and taking part in supporting activities.

The 5 official rhymes for 2023 are:

Jack & Jill

Hickory Dickory Dock

Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes

Row Row Row Your Boat

Wheels On The Bus

Nursery rhymes are excellent teaching tools and can help to develop:

  • language and literacy skills
  • numeracy skills
  • social, physical and emotional skills

– they are so much fun!

Join us in class for World Nursery Rhyme Week in fancy dress as your favourite nursery rhyme character! We can’t wait to see all your amazing costumes and sing some classic rhymes with you all.

Want to join in at home or with your school, nursery or childcare setting? Please register online here to receive your free resource pack. Thank you and we look forward to singing with you soon.
