I first came across Music Bugs while looking for a music class to take my young daughter along to. I discovered that there were no classes running in my local area and so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to combine my two favourite things - music and children! I feel very privileged to be part of Music Bugs and able to work in such a creative environment with children at such a crucial and exciting time of their life!

Our 40 minute classes are full of fun as we sing, clap and wriggle our way through our favourite songs (and lots of new ones too!). Come and play with our puppets and pom poms and watch your child develop and grow in a friendly and stimulating environment.

Recent research undertaken by the charity Youth Music and Northumbria University showed that children who are exposed to music and singing from an early age develop key skills that will assist in their education and development in later life.

The most notable areas of development were:
• Counting
• Vocabulary
• Listening to and understanding instructions
• Creative story-telling
• Basic addition and subtraction
• Conversation and sentence building
• Sequencing and patterning – skills necessary for maths
• Gross motor skills and fine motor skills – physical dexterity
• Concentration span
